Peach Festival Approves 2008 Calendar of Events

Grab your calendars and mark June 20th through 29th as a time to Get Into Gaffney. This year’s events promise to be loads of quality family fun no matter what your interests. The Annual South Carolina Peach Festival Dessert Contest will take on a new location this year as it becomes a part of our Kick-off Celebration at the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. No need to worry about eating too much there; beginning early Saturday morning (June 21st) you’ll get plenty of exercise when you join us for an ALL-DAY/INTO THE NIGHT Family Fun Fest in the Historic Downtown Gaffney area. This year’s Family Fun Fest, sponsored in part by the City of Gaffney, will begin with the 32nd annual South Carolina Peach Festival Parade and will feature games, entertainment, food, arts and crafts, and much more leading into the night to conclude with major entertainment and a fireworks show.

Don’t forget to bring your talents with you. The 2008 South Carolina Peach Festival Talent Show, sponsored by the Blacksburg Rotary, will be held on Tuesday, June 24th. Now if your talent is that of an athlete, you will want to visit our website for information about numerous athletic tournaments. From golfing at Cherokee National Country Club to shagging at the Peach Ball; from softball at the Ford Complex to dirt track racing at the Cherokee Super Speedway; from running in the annual Road Race to vying for champion of the 3-on-3 basketball tournament; you’ll not want to miss the multitude of events happening in Gaffney at this year’s festival. Whether you are a bowler or not, you’ll certainly want to partake of the bowling tournament at Gaffney’s newest entertainment facility, Starmax of Gaffney. There you may choose to bowl in the South Carolina Peach Festival Amateur Bowling Tournament; you may choose to be a spectator for the Professional Bowling Association tournament; or you may choose to do both by participating in the Pro-Am on Friday, June 28th. Entering the Pro-Am will allow amateurs to bowl with the professionals seen on ESPN.

After nine days full of fun and entertainment for your family, you will want to join the community at the First Baptist Church Gaffney for the Community Worship Service featuring numerous musical talents representing many area churches.
